Benjamin fell in love with all things cars and trucks while working summers at a performance shop in Warsaw, MO that specialized in high output motors for boats, drag cars and circle track. After graduating from the Trulaske College of Business at MU, he worked at a GM dealership in Sedalia, MO for 4 years. He built relationships with other dealers and many customers throughout Mid Missouri but during that time, he knew his end goal was to own his own business.

The Darbyshire Family purchased a spray-on bedliner franchise on October 1st, 2017. The company grew fast and was constantly adding new services to broaden their market reach. In January of 2023, Benjamin decided to change the business name to COMO TRUCK GEAR. "We are still very much a spray-on bedliner franchise, as we continue to be one of the top volume dealers in the nation year in and year out. With our many product offerings from hitches and undercoating, to van upfits and truck accessories, we decided our BRAND needed to incorporate that."
